Austrian victory in the anniversary tournament in Kitzbühel - successful 20th birthday oft he tournament
On Saturday evening, the VIP tent became a party tent: 700 guests enjoyed fine food and good music and partied until late at night. The band Cookies and Cream provided a high-spirited after-dinner atmosphere. The DJ of the tournament, DJ Erok, crowned the evening as part of the celebrations for the 20th anniversary of the Bendura Bank Snow Polo World Cup with his signature beats.
The final day was opened by the young Henrique Schalldach (Team Engel & Völkers) and Sebastian Schneberger's team Veuve Clicquot in a game for 7th place. The team of the German-Brazilian in the colors of Engel & Völkers won the Bodvar Rose Cup with 7 to 5.5.
The World Polo League team led by Peter Cromm and the team of Brit Hugo Baldwin (Mackage) fought an exciting match for third place (Casablanca Cup). Due to the different handicaps, the World Polo League team started the game with half a goal more, but could not save the lead over time. Team Mackage secured third place with a score of 9 to 8.5.
With a difference of four goals, Melissa Ganzi (Team Bentley), Alfonso Pieres and Alejandro Novillo Astrada won the Kitzbühel Cup for place 5. The game against Team Bodvar was hard fought.
In the grand final of the 20th Bendura Bank Snow Polo World Cup, Team Intocast, with Austrian team captain Matthias Normann, Micky Duggan and Martin Juaregui, faced off against the team from title sponsor Bendura Bank, who had won all matches up to that point. Philip de Groot, Adrian Laplacette and Tito Gaudenzi gave their all to complete the 20th birthday win, but Matthias Normann's team was stronger today. Team Intocast wins the anniversary tournament with a score of 10 to 7.
Batucada won the Kitzbühel Country Club blanket for the Best Playing Pony, ridden by Martin Juaregui (Team Intocast), who was also declared MVP (Most Valuable Player).
The organizers can look back on a successful weekend with over 10,000 visitors: "What we have created here together with the Kitzbühel Tourist Association and the Bendura Bank despite the conditions is a true sign that we can achieve anything together and that we are an incredible team. We are happy to have celebrated 20 years of polo in Kitzbühel and look forward to the next 20 years! We are also in full planning for the first summer tournament in Kitzbühel," says Tito Gaudenzi.
